Abstract

This white paper explores the integration of service learning within business school curricula as a transformative approach to developing socially responsible, community-oriented leaders. With increasing demand for ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility, business schools face pressure to evolve beyond traditional theoretical models. By embedding service learning into business education, institutions can foster experiential learning, civic engagement, and ethical decision-making, ultimately producing well rounded graduates equipped for real-world challenges. This paper delves into the problem of disconnect between business theory and societal engagement,
analyzes the effectiveness of service learning, and proposes actionable strategies to embed it deeply within the fabric of business education.

At a time when the higher education sector is facing significant challenges and increasing pressure to demonstrate its relevance, impact, and societal contribution, this paper also adopts a managerial perspective, examining how service learning can serve as a strategic response to these evolving demands.
